Indian ambassador to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj addressing at a meeting chaired by the United States emphasized that despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, India has provided food aid to several countries, including its neighbors and African nations, to strengthen food security. This aid has been in the form of thousands of metric tonnes of wheat, rice, pulses, and lentils.
The deteriorating humanitarian situation in Afghanistan was highlighted by Ambassador Kamboj, who mentioned India's donation of 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat to the Afghan people. Similarly, India has continued its humanitarian support to Myanmar by offering a grant of 10,000 tonnes of rice and wheat. Additionally, Sri Lanka has also received essential food assistance from India during difficult times.
