Tensions have erupted at the satyagraha site in Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo, where a group of Buddhist monks are staging a protest demanding a presidential pardon for Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera.
The situation became tense after Cinnamon Gardens Police arrived at the site with a court order obtained from the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court to remove the protesting monks and others from the premises.
