A new train service between Polgahawela and Peradeniya has been introduced from today (October 12) to facilitate schoolchildren and other passengers travelling between the two destinations.

The Department of Railways said the service was introduced following the resumption of normal train operations between Rambukkana and Gampola on the up-country railway line on October 2, after disruptions caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

Accordingly, the new train service is scheduled to operate daily from today, providing convenient transportation for schoolchildren and other passengers travelling between Polgahawela and Peradeniya, the department said.
