Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, Under-13 Girls’ Basketball Team were crowned All-Island Champions after completing an unbeaten campaign at the Under-13 Basketball Tournament 2026 organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association.
The tournament was held from August 25 to September 8, with the HFC team winning every match from the first round through to the final.
Holy Family Convent opened their campaign with a convincing 35-5 victory over Mahamaya on August 25, followed by a 32-3 win over Kularathna on August 26.
They continued their winning run with a 33-5 victory over St. Joseph’s Girls’ School, Nugegoda, on August 27.
In the semi-final, HFC defeated Kularathna 37-9 to book their place in the final.
The championship-deciding encounter was played against Lyceum International College, Nugegoda, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on September 8. HFC secured the title with a 28-18 victory.
Captain Eliana Nagasena led the team, with Ivana Morris serving as vice-captain. The team was coached by Shane Daniel, Randima Sooriyaarachchi and Chamath Gimhana, while Uthpali Premachandra served as the Teacher in Charge of Basketball.
Principal Rev. Sr. Charitha Thandalage was also present with the team as they celebrated their championship victory.
