The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has acquitted and discharged former Mrs. Sri Lanka titleholder Caroline Jury and Chula Padmendra over the 2021 crown-removal incident involving Pushpika de Silva.
The case stemmed from an incident at the Mrs. Sri Lanka grand finale held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo, where Jury was accused of forcibly removing de Silva’s crown and assaulting her.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama delivered the verdict following a lengthy trial, ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the defendants beyond reasonable doubt.
The court was also informed that Chula Padmendra had since passed away.
