The Sri Lanka Police have announced a temporary alternative procedure for obtaining Police Clearance Certificates following the suspension of the computerized system for urgent maintenance.

Police Headquarters said the Police Clearance Division at the 17th floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla will continue accepting applications under the temporary arrangement.

Applicants should download the application form from the official Sri Lanka Police website, complete it and email the form along with scanned or photocopied copies of their National Identity Card and passport to [email protected].

The Police Clearance Division will begin the necessary background checks upon receiving the applications. However, certificates will only be printed and issued after the main database system has been restored.

No payment is required when submitting an application under the temporary procedure. Applicants will, however, be required to make the relevant payment and resubmit their applications through the normal online system once the maintenance work is completed.

Meanwhile, applicants who submitted their applications before the system was suspended can check the Police website for reference numbers of completed certificates. Those whose reference numbers are listed can collect their certificates from the Police Clearance Division at Suhurupaya.

Certificate collection will also be available on Saturdays and Sundays during the temporary arrangement.

Police said technical teams are working to restore the computerized system as soon as possible.
