A man who was critically injured in a shooting in front of a house in the Naimulla Pambaya area of Payagala has died while receiving treatment at the Nagoda Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as a man known as “Dila,” who is reportedly the brother-in-law of organized crime gang member “Panadura Nilanga.”
Police said the shooting had taken place shortly before, with an automatic firearm reportedly used in the attack.
Initial information received by police indicates that the shooting may have been carried out by a faction linked to Salindu Malshitha, alias “Kudu Salindu,” an alleged organized criminal and large-scale drug trafficker.
Police have launched further investigations into the incident and are working to identify those responsible for the shooting.
