Sri Lanka’s General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination is scheduled to commence tomorrow, August 10, and will continue until September 5 at 2,532 examination centres across the country.
The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said a set of guidelines has been jointly prepared by the Department of Meteorology and the Department of Examinations outlining the measures to be taken in the event of any disaster-related situation during the examination period.
Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage urged all candidates to pay close attention to the requirements for entering examination centres.
She said admission cards have already been sent by post. Admission cards of school candidates have been sent to the respective principals, while those of private candidates have been posted to their registered addresses.
Candidates are reminded that their signatures on the admission cards must be duly certified before appearing for the examination.
A valid National Identity Card, valid driving licence, or valid passport will be accepted as an identity document, and candidates must carry one of these documents to the examination hall every day.
If a candidate’s identity document has been lost, two photographs of the size required for a postal identity card should be obtained and certified by the school principal to be used as a temporary identification document.
The Commissioner General also said that if an admission card is damaged or lost, candidates can download a replacement from the official website of the Department of Examinations. The downloaded admission card must also be duly certified before it is presented at the examination centre.
Authorities have urged all candidates to make the necessary preparations and follow the examination regulations throughout the examination period.
