Galle Marvels, led by captain Dasun Shanaka, have been crowned champions of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) after defeating Jaffna Kings by five wickets in the final played yesterday.

Batting first, Jaffna Kings were bowled out for just 123 runs in 19.3 overs. Kamil Mishara was their top scorer, contributing 41 runs.

Eshan Malinga and Charith Asalanka were the standout bowlers for Galle, claiming three wickets each to restrict Jaffna's batting lineup.

In reply, Galle Marvels chased down the target with ease, scoring 126 for the loss of five wickets in 15.5 overs to secure a five-wicket victory and the LPL title.

Thomas Rogers top-scored for Galle with 34 runs, while Dinura Kalupahana contributed a valuable 31 runs to the successful chase.

The victory saw Dasun Shanaka's Galle side lift the Lanka Premier League championship after a dominant performance in the final.
