Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts after 2.00 p.m.

Several spells of showers may occur in North-western province. 

Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over North-central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces and Trincomalee District.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.

Winds:

Winds will be westerly to south-westerly. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. 

Wind speed can exceed 60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. 

Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Batticaloa to Chilaw via Trincomalee, Kankasanthurai, Mannar, and from Galle to Matara.  

 

State of Sea:

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough or very rough at times. Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into these sea areas, until further notice.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Batticaloa to Chilaw via Trincomalee, Kankasanthurai, Mannar, and from Galle to Matara will be rough at times. The naval and fishing communities who are engaged in fishing and naval activities in the above sea areas are requested to be vigilant in this regard. 

The wave height may increase about (2.5 – 3.0) meters in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
