The Colombo High Court has issued an interim order preventing further proceedings in the traffic accident case filed against Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
The order was issued after the High Court considered a revision petition filed by Seneviratne challenging the ongoing proceedings.
The case relates to a road accident reported in Wellawatte in 2023, where Seneviratne was accused of offences including failing to prevent an accident, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Seneviratne had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of failing to prevent the accident and was fined Rs. 2,500 by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court. Proceedings on the remaining charges were deferred.
The High Court’s interim order will remain in effect pending further consideration of the revision petition.
