Four inmates were hospitalized after sustaining injuries during unrest at Kuruwita Prison, according to the Acting Commissioner General of Prisons.
Police said tear gas was used to bring the situation under control.
The unrest reportedly began on the night of August 6 and was later contained by authorities. However, another disturbance broke out among inmates on the morning of August 7.
During the latest incident, a group of inmates allegedly caused damage to the prison hospital, according to reports.
Authorities have restored order, while further investigations into the incidents are underway.
