The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced the schedule for the conclusion of the first phase of the third school term and the commencement of the second phase for government and government-approved private schools in 2026.
According to the Ministry, the first phase of the third school term for Sinhala and Tamil schools concludes today, August 7, 2026. Meanwhile, Muslim schools will complete the first phase on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The second phase of the third school term for all schools will begin on Monday, September 7, 2026, and continue until Friday, December 4, 2026.
Meanwhile, the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination is scheduled to be held from August 10 to September 5, 2026.
