More than 50 students were hospitalized after being attacked by wasps at Divulwewa Maha Vidyalaya in Trincomalee, police said.
The incident reportedly occurred after a wasp nest located on a school building was disturbed, triggering a swarm that attacked the students.
The injured students were admitted to Mahadivulwewa Hospital for treatment. Three female students who were in serious condition were later transferred to Trincomalee General Hospital for further medical care.
