Former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The arrest was made after Kariyawasam appeared before the Bribery Commission on the morning of August 5 to provide a statement as part of an ongoing investigation.
It is alleged that four employees were recruited to the office of the President's Senior Adviser and assigned to carry out the adviser's personal work.
