The Department of Meteorology has issued a Red Warning for strong winds and very rough sea conditions in the sea areas extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
According to the warning, these sea areas are expected to be very rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 60–70 kmph.
The Department has advised naval and fishing communities not to venture into the affected sea areas until further notice due to the hazardous conditions.
Meanwhile, sea areas extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo are also expected to experience rough conditions, with strong gusty winds of 50–60 kmph.
The Department of Meteorology has further urged those engaged in naval and fishing activities in these areas to remain vigilant and closely monitor future weather forecasts and official advisories before heading out to sea.
