Central Province Director of Education, Nayomi Hettiarachchi, announced that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and school staff amid the inclement weather.
She further stated that school principals in the Hatton, Nuwara Eliya, Kotmale, Gampola, Teldeniya, and Kandy Education Zones have been instructed to assess the weather conditions in their respective areas and make appropriate decisions regarding the conduct of school activities.
Education authorities have urged parents and students to stay updated through official announcements and follow the instructions issued by school administrations and local authorities as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
