Another shipping container has washed ashore along Sri Lanka's southern coastline, with a 40-foot container being discovered near Owakanda Junction in the Rathgama Police Division on Sunday (03).
Rathgama Police said the white-coloured container was found on the beach this morning and is believed to have drifted ashore after falling from a cargo vessel.
The latest discovery follows a similar incident on Saturday (02), when another white shipping container was found washed up behind a tourist hotel in Induruwa.
Authorities suspect both containers are among those that fell into the sea from a vessel off the coast near Colombo earlier this week.
