The Department of Irrigation has issued a special flood warning for several low-lying areas in the Mahaweli River Basin following heavy rainfall.
According to the department, residents living in low-lying areas along the Mahaweli River are urged to remain vigilant as water levels continue to rise.
The warning applies to the Divisional Secretariat divisions of Udunuwara, Udapalatha, Yatinuwara, Ganga Ihala Korale, Pasbage Korale, and Gangawata Korale.
Authorities have advised the public in these areas to closely monitor official updates and take necessary precautions in the event of rising water levels or flooding.
