The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued a landslide early warning for four districts across Sri Lanka, effective until 11:00 p.m. today (August 3). The warning was released at 11:00 p.m. on August 2.
According to the NBRO, Level 2 (Amber) landslide warnings have been issued for the following Divisional Secretariat (DS) divisions and surrounding areas:
Kandy District: Pasbage Korale and Ganga Ihala Korale
Kegalle District: Yatiyantota
Nuwara Eliya District: Ambagamuwa and Norwood
Residents in these areas have been advised to remain highly vigilant due to the increased risk of landslides.
Meanwhile, Level 1 (Yellow) landslide early warnings have been issued for:
Kegalle District: Aranayake and Dehiowita
Nuwara Eliya District: Nuwara Eliya, Talawakelle, Kotmale East, and Kotmale West
Ratnapura District: Nivithigala and Ratnapura
The NBRO has urged people living in the affected areas to stay alert, monitor official updates, and follow the instructions of local authorities if weather conditions worsen
