President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has directed officials to expedite the process of repurposing bungalows and residences previously used as official residences by former ministers for economically productive purposes.
The President issued the directive during a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat to review the progress of projects implemented under the 2026 budget allocations for the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, while also discussing budget proposals for 2027.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the implementation of projects funded under the 2026 budget and discussed future plans for the Public Administration, Home Affairs and Local Government divisions operating under the Ministry.
The discussion focused on projects financed through a capital expenditure allocation of Rs. 60,430.04 million and a recurrent expenditure allocation of Rs. 706,226.83 million provided under the 2026 Budget.
