The Department of Railways has announced temporary restrictions on train services along the Kelani Valley railway line and the closure of the Nawala–Narahenpita railway crossing to facilitate essential repair work.
According to the Department, urgent renovation work will be carried out at the Nawala–Narahenpita road railway crossing, located between the Narahenpita and Nugegoda railway stations.
As part of the maintenance programme, train services between Colombo Fort and Nugegoda railway stations on the Kelani Valley line will be suspended from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on August 1.
The Railway Department has also announced revised schedules for trains operating on the Kelani Valley line on Saturday evening and Sunday morning to minimise disruptions caused by the repair work.
Passengers are advised to check the revised train timetables and make alternative travel arrangements where necessary. Motorists are also urged to avoid the Nawala–Narahenpita railway crossing during the closure period and use alternative routes.
The Department of Railways regrets the inconvenience caused and requests the public's cooperation as the essential maintenance work is carried out to improve the safety and reliability of the railway infrastructure.
