The conference aims to address what organisers describe as the pressing challenges currently facing the Buddha Sasana while fostering unity among members of the Buddhist clergy.
The Maha Sangha Conference, organised by the Sasanarakshaka Sangha Sabha, is scheduled to commence in Colombo today (27) under the theme "Sukhā Sanghassa Sāmaggī."
Speaking ahead of the event, the Coordinator of the Sasanarakshaka Sangha Sabha, Venerable Ulapane Sumangala Thera, said the gathering is intended to strengthen solidarity within the Maha Sangha and contribute to the protection and advancement of the Buddha Sasana, as well as Sri Lanka's cultural and religious heritage.
The conference will begin at 2.00 p.m. at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. Thousands of Buddhist monks from across the island are expected to attend the event.
