A total of 19 people were injured and admitted to hospital following a collision between a private passenger bus and a motorcycle on the Matara–Tissamaharama main road in the Weerawila area, according to Police.
Police said the accident occurred near the Weerawila Divisional Secretariat when a private bus travelling from Tissamaharama to Matara collided with a motorcycle. Following the impact, the bus veered off the road and crashed into a roadside tree.
All injured victims were initially admitted to the Debarawewa Hospital. Four of them, who were reported to be in critical condition, were later transferred to the Hambantota Hospital for further treatment.
