Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage formally assumed duties as the Commander Eastern Naval Area today, 24 July 2026 at the Eastern Command Headquarters in Trincomalee.
In accordance with naval traditions, the newly appointed Area Commander was received at the Eastern Naval Command. The rest of the proceedings included a formal handing over of duties and responsibilities from his predecessor, Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulasooriya, to Rear Admiral Liyanagamage.
In addition to his new appointment, Rear Admiral Liyanagamage continues to hold the position of Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy.
