Former Southern Province Chief Secretary Rannulu Chandrasiri de Soysa was arrested today (July 24) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over alleged corruption.
The arrest is linked to a 2019 project to supply chairs to public voluntary organizations using Rs. 16.5 million in Southern Provincial Council member allocations.
Authorities allege that procurement procedures were bypassed to favor a single supplier, causing an unfair advantage and financial loss to the government.
