The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the appointment of O.T.M.I. Thilakaratne as the new Surveyor General of Sri Lanka, with effect from 20 August 2026.
The appointment follows the scheduled retirement of the incumbent Surveyor General, P.K.L.S. Panduwawala, who will retire from the public service on 20 August 2026 upon reaching the compulsory retirement age.
Ms. Thilakaratne, currently serving as an Additional Surveyor General in the Department of Survey, is the most senior officer in the Special Grade of the Sri Lanka Survey Service. In view of the impending vacancy, the Cabinet has granted approval for her appointment as Surveyor General, effective from the date of Ms. Panduwawala's retirement.
The appointment ensures continuity in the leadership of the Department of Survey and recognizes Ms. Thilakaratne's seniority and extensive experience within the Sri Lanka Survey Service.
