The ceremony was held under the patronage of Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumar Gamage, who attended as the Chief Guest with the full support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Also in attendance were Chairman of the Cricket Reform Committee Eran Wickramaratne, IPG Group Chairman Anil Mohan, along with several distinguished guests and leading figures from the sports sector.
One of the biggest highlights of the evening was Sri Lanka's largest-ever drone light show, featuring 500 drones that illuminated the Colombo night sky with cricket-themed animations and national symbols. The ceremony also featured a dazzling laser show and live musical performances by some of the country's most popular artists, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for fans.
The official LPL 2026 trophy was unveiled during the event, marking the beginning of an exciting competition among five teams battling for the championship until August 8.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports reaffirmed its commitment to developing Sri Lankan cricket, nurturing local talent, and providing fans with world-class sporting experiences while strengthening the country's presence on the international cricket stage.
