A large wildfire broke out on the Uwa Mawelagama mountain range near Diyaluma Falls, located along the Koslanda–Wellawaya Road, on the afternoon of July 17.

The fire continued to spread throughout the night across the protected forest reserve, destroying more than 20 acres of land, according to local reports.

Authorities believe the blaze spread rapidly due to the prevailing dry weather conditions and strong winds experienced in the area over recent days.

However, by this morning, officials confirmed that the wildfire had been brought completely under control. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and further investigations are expected.
