Vice Admiral Damith Fernando, who was recently appointed as the 27th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, paid an official visit to the Sri Lanka Police Headquarters.Vice Admiral Fernando assumed duties as the new Navy Commander on July 1, 2026. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy and was promoted from the rank of Rear Admiral to Vice Admiral by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake before taking over the command.
During the official visit, the Navy Commander was warmly welcomed by the Sri Lanka Police and was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the Police Headquarters.
Following the reception, Vice Admiral Fernando held cordial discussions with Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya and senior police officers on matters related to national security and future cooperation between the Navy and the Police.
To commemorate the occasion, the Inspector General of Police presented a commemorative plaque to Vice Admiral Damith Fernando, marking his first official visit to the Police Headquarters as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.
