The number of dengue infections reported across Sri Lanka this year has risen to nearly 70,000, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

The NDCU said a total of 69,951 cases had been recorded nationwide as of yesterday (13), reflecting a continued increase in infections.

The latest figures show that the total caseload rose by 1,279 cases in a single day, increasing from 68,672 cases on July 12 to 69,951 on July 13.

The Western Province continues to report the highest number of dengue infections, with 33,127 cases recorded so far. Within the province, the Gampaha District has reported the highest number of cases at 14,464, followed by the Colombo District with 14,004 cases.

The Unit also said 14,572 dengue cases have been reported during the first 13 days of July, while June remains the worst-affected month this year, with 21,538 infections recorded.
