A sudden fire broke out in the electrical system on the ground floor of the Kalutara District Secretariat at around 8:30 a.m. today (July 13), causing damage to equipment.
According to officials, no casualties or injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The Fire Brigade of the Kalutara Municipal Council responded promptly after receiving the alert, dispatching fire engines to the scene. Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the relevant authorities are expected to conduct an investigation into the incident. Officials are also assessing the extent of the damage caused to the electrical system and other equipment.
