The Department of Meteorology has issued a warm weather advisory for the districts of Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, and Monaragala, warning that the heat index is expected to reach the 'Caution Level' tomorrow.

According to the advisory, elevated temperatures combined with humidity could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for individuals engaging in prolonged outdoor activities.

Health officials urge the public to remain well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water, avoid extended exposure to direct sunlight, and limit strenuous outdoor work or exercise during the hottest hours of the day.

Vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with chronic medical conditions, are advised to take extra precautions and seek shade or cool environments whenever possible.

The Department of Meteorology will continue to monitor weather conditions and issue further updates if necessary. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official weather advisories and follow recommended safety measures to minimize the effects of the hot weather.
