Sri Lanka has recorded more than 68,000 dengue cases so far this year, while the number of dengue-related deaths has increased to 47, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The NDCU said a total of 68,071 dengue infections have been reported across the country to date.
June recorded the highest monthly number of cases this year, with 21,538 infections, while 12,692 cases were reported during the first 11 days of July, reflecting a continued increase in the spread of the disease.
The Western Province has reported the highest number of infections, with 35,823 cases. It is followed by the Southern Province, which has recorded 10,657 cases, while 5,756 cases have been reported from the Sabaragamuwa Province and 5,560 cases from the Kandy District, according to the latest figures released by the National Dengue Control Unit.
