The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) says the number of dengue-related deaths reported in Sri Lanka has increased to 47.
In a statement, the NDCU said that a total of 67,174 dengue cases have been recorded across the country so far this year.
According to the unit, 10,685 cases were reported during the first nine days of July alone, highlighting a sharp rise in infections.
Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said that 1,110 new dengue cases were reported on July 10 alone.
Health authorities continue to urge the public to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and take preventive measures as dengue cases continue to rise across the country.
