The National Early Childhood Care and Development Week 2026 will be celebrated across Sri Lanka from July 14 to July 20, with all arrangements now in place.
This year's celebration will be held under the theme, "A Happy Family A Ray of Sunshine for a Thriving Childhood World."
The initiative aims to promote the healthy physical, psychosocial, and intellectual development of Sri Lankan children during their early years. In line with this objective, the National Secretariat for Early Childhood Development, operating under the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, has organized a series of islandwide programmes throughout the week.
The programmes are designed to raise awareness and strengthen support for early childhood care, development, and nutrition. They will specifically target pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, young children, preschool teachers, parents, policymakers, and professionals involved in early childhood development, care, and nutrition.
Through these activities, the Ministry seeks to reinforce the importance of nurturing children in a supportive family environment while promoting collaborative efforts to ensure every child receives the care and opportunities needed for healthy growth and development.
