The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed a case before the Colombo High Court against former Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena over alleged bribery charges.

According to the Commission, the former minister is accused of accepting a Rs. 1 million bribe from a businessman in 2013 while serving as Minister of Investment Promotion, in exchange for facilitating a matter related to the Board of Investment (BOI).

The case has been filed under two counts in accordance with the provisions of the Bribery Act.

The matter is scheduled to be taken up before the Colombo High Court for further proceedings.
