The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory warning of strong winds affecting several parts of the country due to active south-west monsoon conditions.

The advisory will remain valid until 11.00 AM tomorrow (10).

According to the Department, wind speeds of 40 to 50 km/h are expected at times in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and North Central provinces, as well as in the Puttalam, Hambantota, Mannar and Trincomalee districts.

The public has been urged to exercise caution, remain alert to possible weather-related impacts, and follow further updates and advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology.
