The advisory, released today (July 8) by the Natural Disaster Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology, will be in effect for the districts of Batticaloa, Ampara, and Monaragala.

According to the department, the heat index representing the temperature felt by the human body—is expected to reach the "Caution" level in some areas of these districts during the daytime.

Authorities have advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimize the effects of the hot weather, including staying well hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.
