Newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, paid courtesy calls on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, as part of his official engagements following his appointment.
According to the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Fernando was accorded ceremonial Guards of Honour at both the Air Force Headquarters and the Army Headquarters, in line with long-standing military traditions.
During his meeting with the Air Force Commander, the two service chiefs discussed matters of mutual interest, with particular attention given to enhancing inter-service cooperation and the joint role of the Navy and Air Force in safeguarding national security.
The visit concluded with the exchange of commemorative mementoes, symbolising the strong professional relationship and longstanding camaraderie between the two armed services.
Vice Admiral Fernando also met with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Army and Navy and their collective contribution to national security.
The Navy stated that both meetings reaffirmed the commitment of the armed forces to maintaining close collaboration in addressing the country’s defence and security priorities.
