The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced plans to establish the first fuel station on Delft Island, marking a significant milestone in improving fuel access for the island’s residents.

CPC Managing Director Dr. Mayura Neththikumarage said the project is expected to support tourism growth while improving the livelihoods of the local community.

He noted that fuel distribution on the island has so far been carried out through an unstructured system, and the new filling station is expected to provide a more reliable and efficient supply.

The foundation stone for the project was laid on Delft Island today, with construction scheduled to be completed over the coming months, according to the CPC.
