The Welfare Benefits Board has announced that the June payments under the "Aswesuma" welfare benefit scheme for senior citizens aged over 70 will be credited to beneficiaries' bank accounts tomorrow (July 3).
Under the first phase of the payment, a total of Rs. 3.108 billion will be deposited into the accounts of 621,761 beneficiaries.
In addition, Rs. 380.695 million will be credited to the Aswesuma bank accounts of 76,139 beneficiaries under the second phase.
The Board said the payments are being made as part of the government's continued welfare assistance programme for eligible senior citizens.
