Three suspects, including a local Municipal Councillor, have been arrested following a violent altercation at a car park within the Anuradhapura Poson Festival grounds on Wednesday (July 1).
According to police, the incident stemmed from a heated dispute over a vehicle parking space during the festival, which quickly escalated into a physical assault. Three individuals sustained injuries in the clash.
The Anuradhapura Police launched an immediate investigation and arrested the suspects later that night. The individuals taken into custody are residents of Pubudu Pura, Wanniyan Kulama, and Labiyawa Naratha Mawatha in Anuradhapura.
Two of the injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, according to hospital sources.
