Newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, paid a courtesy visit to Defense Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha at the Ministry of Defense today (01).


According to the Ministry of Defence, the meeting marked Vice Admiral Fernando’s first official engagement with the Defence Secretary since assuming duties as the 27th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.

During the meeting, the Defence Secretary congratulated the new Navy Commander on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to provide strong leadership while further strengthening the Navy’s operational capabilities and upholding its longstanding traditions of professionalism and excellence.

Vice Admiral Fernando officially received his letter of appointment from Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (30), following his appointment by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
