Bus fares are set to increase by 12% with effect from the 6th of this month. With this latest revision, the minimum bus fare will be raised from Rs. 30 to Rs. 34.
According to the official announcement, the fare hikes for normal passenger services will be calculated based on the travel distance. A 12% fare increase will apply to all standard journeys under 100 kilometers, while long-distance commuters traveling 100 kilometers or more will face a steeper hike of 20%.
A similar tiered structure has been introduced for luxury passenger services. While luxury transport fares for routes under 100 kilometers will see a 12% increase, fares for luxury journeys extending 100 kilometers or more will be raised by 15%.
