According to the advisory, sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota are expected to experience rough conditions at times. Strong gusty winds with speeds of 50–60 kmph are also forecast in these areas.
The Meteorology Department cautioned that the adverse weather conditions could pose risks to marine activities, particularly for fishing and naval operations.
Authorities have urged members of the naval and fishing communities to exercise vigilance and closely monitor future weather forecasts and advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology.
Fishermen and operators of small craft are advised to remain informed of the latest updates and take necessary precautions to ensure safety at sea as the warning remains in effect.
