The warning, will remain valid until 10.30 AM tomorrow (06). 

According to the Meteorology Department, sea areas stretching from Trincomalee to Pottuvil via Mullaitivu, Kankesanthurai, Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota are expected to experience adverse weather conditions. 

The sea area off the coast between Kankesanthurai and Kalpitiya via Mannar is forecast to become very rough at times, with wind speeds reaching 60 to 70 kmph. 

Meanwhile, waters extending from Trincomalee to Kankesanthurai via Mullaitivu and from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota are expected to be rough with gusty winds of 50 to 60 kmph. 

The Department further noted that wave heights could rise to between 2 and 2.5 metres in sea areas from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota. Coastal areas from Chilaw to Matara through Colombo and Galle may also experience sea surges.

Fishing and naval communities operating in the affected sea regions have been advised to exercise extreme caution and remain alert to the prevailing weather conditions.
