The Magistrate made the announcement while considering a motion filed on behalf of Sallay by President’s Counsel Shavindra Fernando before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.
Appearing for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris informed the court that a specialist forensic medical board should be appointed through the Director General of Health Services to assess Sallay’s health condition while he remains under detention orders.
Meanwhile, President’s Counsel Shavindra Fernando, appearing for the suspect, submitted that his client has been suffering from anxiety and depression since being placed in detention. He further told the court that Sallay has shown suicidal tendencies and requested that he be provided with a suitable environment and necessary medical treatment to address his condition.
The court is scheduled to announce its decision on the matter on June 10.
