The individuals, aged 29 and 30, are both residents of Ambathalagama in Mihintale. They were arrested by the Mihintale Police yesterday afternoon (03) during a targeted anti-narcotics raid.
According to Chief Inspector Chandrasiri Ranjith, the Officer-in-Charge (OOC) of the Mihintale Police, the duo had been formally charged and were scheduled to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court later today.
However, the suspects managed to unlock their cell door in the early hours of this morning and fled the station premises.
