According to the latest weather forecast issued at 4.00 p.m. today, the prevailing rainy conditions are expected to continue over the next few days as the low-pressure system gradually moves northwards.

The Met Department said the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Uva provinces are likely to experience heavy showers, along with the Ampara, Batticaloa, Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces and in the Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Galle and Matara districts.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are expected in other areas after 1.00 p.m.

Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and take precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
